Parenting Through Change and Challenge
No parenting journey starts with all the answers - especially when navigating the constant transitions of military life or the unique needs of a neurodivergent child. Frequent moves, new schools, and shifting routines can leave families feeling unbalanced and disconnected. Add in the patterns many of us inherited from our own upbringing, and it’s easy to find ourselves parenting on autopilot: reacting instead of responding, controlling instead of connecting.
When we parent without reflection, we often repeat what we experienced as children, even when we’re determined to do better. The traditional model most of us grew up with may seem effective when you’re in the moment, but it often leads to power struggles, frustration, and emotional distance. Conscious parenting invites us to slow down, notice our own triggers, and create space for growth - for ourselves and our children.
Creating Balance and Growth Together
Parenting is not about perfection, it’s about presence, flexibility, and repair. Every challenge, whether it’s a difficult move, a new diagnosis, or school refusal, is an opportunity to strengthen connection and resilience. By cultivating awareness and compassion, we can shift from control to collaboration and from chaos to calm.
No matter what your relationship with your child looks like today, change is possible. Through conscious effort, you can create the balance, understanding, and trust your family deserves.
Hello! I'm Dr. Katy Davis, EdD
Why I Became a Parenting Coach
I became a parenting coach because I was determined to create a different kind of relationship with my children - one rooted in mutual trust, understanding, and compassion. As a military spouse and mother to two autistic children, I’ve experienced firsthand how complex, beautiful, and challenging parenting can be, especially when navigating neurodivergence and the constant transitions of military life.
My professional and personal paths have shown me how connection - not control - is what truly transforms family relationships. Through my work and my own journey as a parent, I’ve learned that when we slow down, listen deeply, and approach our children with curiosity rather than correction, we open the door to profound growth for both parent and child.
Supporting Parents on a Path to Connection
I believe every child deserves to be guided and loved by the best version of us: the version that leads with empathy, awareness, and balance. My mission as a parenting coach is to support other parents in reimagining their relationships with their children, breaking free from old patterns, and creating homes where everyone can thrive.
I particularly strive to help families raising neurodivergent children (autistic, adhd, dyslexic, gifted, or 2e/multi-exceptional) find ways to truly create a neuro-affirming household through gained knowledge and understanding.
You don’t need to have it all figured out, you just need the courage to begin. Together, we can build a foundation of connection, resilience, and respect that honors both you and your child.
The traditional ‘POWER-OVER’ model of parenting isn’t working
It can feel exhausting to believe you’ll spend the rest of your life struggling with your children, constantly questioning yourself and wondering if you’re failing as a parent. The truth is, most of us were never taught how to be the kind of parents we want to be.
Without guidance, we naturally fall back into the patterns we experienced in our own childhoods, even when our hearts are telling us there’s another way.
As a parenting coach, I help families move beyond survival and into growth, through the three A’s: acceptance, autonomy, and agency. Acceptance allows us to see our children and ourselves as we are, without judgment.
Autonomy helps each family member develop confidence and self-trust. And agency empowers both parents and children to make conscious, values-aligned choices that strengthen connection and cooperation.
I know how hard it can be to reach out for support. When you contact me, you’ll be met with compassion, openness, and a personalized approach designed for your family’s unique needs. Together, we’ll create a supportive, step-by-step plan that helps you move from self-doubt and struggle toward confidence, balance, and connection.

How It Works:
When you schedule a call with me, we’ll take time to talk about what’s happening for you and your family so I can understand your needs and where I can best support you.
I’ll share my coaching approach and outline the different ways we can work together. You’re welcome to ask any questions and explore what type of support best fits your goals, lifestyle, and schedule.
If it feels like the right fit, we can schedule our first session and begin your journey toward greater connection and balance. If not, I’ll gladly recommend other helpful resources or supports. There’s no pressure - just an open, caring conversation to see what feels right for you and your family.
